Mission Statement
Private lessons are not necessary to learn music or any musical instrument. However, though that is true, growth and mastery will be limited. This can make learning a new skill difficult and frustrating. If you're just wanting to learn an instrument as a fun hobby or plan to pursue a career in the music industry, I believe that you will find it more enjoyable and easier to progress when you find a instructor not only familiar with instrumental pedagogy but real-life performance.
Below are the skills I currently offer:
Sax/Flute/Clarinet
Piano/Keyboard
Drums/Percussion
Beginning Guitar/Ukulele
Beginning Bass Guitar
Beginning Orchestral Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
Live Sound Mixing / Recording
FAQs
Do I need to have an instrument or any musical equipment?
In short, yes. If you already have the instrument or equipment, I'll be able to work with you as best as I can. However, I recommend consulting with me prior to starting our lessons to ensure you find the best and affordable options that will guarantee success. I am not be able to provide an instrument or equipment.
How long is a lesson?
Usually lessons are one hour per week. However, I'm able to accomodate times depending on time constraints and goals. The options are 30 min, 1 hour, 1 hour 30 min, and 2 hours.
How much are lessons?
30 min lessons are $30. 1 hour lessons are $45. 1 hour and 30 min lessons are $60. and 2 hour lessons are $100. Lessons are best in-person but can be done via FaceTime or similar.
How often are lessons?
I recommend lessons are once per week. That is the universal standard and has been shown to be the most effective. However, the minimum I can offer is one lesson every two weeks. The most often would be twice-a-week with at least 2-3 days apart. This would only be beneficial if you were preparing for a particular performance or audition in a relatively short amount of time.
What if I need to reschedule?
No problem! We can work around your schedule as best as we can. I understand life is never as we plan. However, I do require at least 24 hours notice. Otherwise, there is a last-minute cancellation fee of $15 added on to your next lesson or billing for each "last minute" cancellation. If for some reason we just aren't clicking with our schedules, we will have to pause lessons.
What guarantee is there that these lessons will make me better at my skill?
As long as you put in the time on your "homework" between lessons, you will improve. Your homework will be the individual practice instructions you will get during our lessons. How much you improve will be dependent on finding your rhythm. This is will be daily schedule or routine you schedule for yourself ot complete your homework.
How long do you recommend I spend on homework?
That's dependent on the time you have available, however, 30 minutes is the universal standard. It's not just about how long you should spend practicing, but the quality practice you're actually spending to develop your skills. We'll work on devolping these skills very early in lessons.
